Today I got a what you might call a Message from Beyond telling me that everything was going to be ok. The message also ordered me to secure my alarm clock to the ceiling (an excellent idea). |

and I am actually out of bed, walking and talking (or at least blogging). This is so bizarre for me you just have no idea. It's been so long since I was up at this hour I don't really know what to do, I usually have my work cut out for me showering and getting to the bus on time.
I'll probably go and find a game to play somewhere. Now that'll be novel... |

Yeah, so nothing interesting has happened to me lately. Job hunting pretty fiercely now, even though I hate it. Luckily, the weather is very pleasant - ordinarily I shiver whenever it's less than 80° out, but this time around it feels like a refreshing change. Strange, but better than hating every minute of it, I guess.
I've recently been introduced to the Flaming Lips. (If you must know, it was through a certain peer-to-peer network). Great band!
Matrix 3 on Wednesday, String Theory on Thursday. I'm going to both, and I'm going to have a great time even if I can't really afford to go to them.

Well. I got an email today from the Alternate Reality Gaming Network, talking about what looks like a nifty project to do with the Matrix movies. Message thread here. I remember the very first ARGN ever... it was a promo for AI: Artificial Intelligence. That was a great game.
Also, at long last another webcomic of the moment. Look What I Brought Home used to be about nothing but raunch, sick humor, and more raunch (which, naturally, is the reason I started reading it and kept on reading it for so long) but lately it's started to be genuinely funny, although it's still all about the raunch. Not for the "virgin ears" type (yes, the cartoonist uses dirty words), but then what is... oh, and unless you have a good amount of intestinal fortitude don't go reading it from the beginning. ^_^ |

Thom Yorke has been shouting lyrics to the allegedly unfinished new Radiohead album in my ears for the past hour, and I've been loving every minute of it. Heavier and stranger than their last album, the next (titled Hail to the Thief) so far feels like a winner.

I found a comic that sums up my view on the war really well. Also, I finally got my hands on a real copy of Macy gray's new single. Very good!
On the minus side, I'm sick again. It's a combination of allergies and the remaining angry germs from Round 1, which have taken merciless advantage of my seasonal excess mucus production (I'm sure that's TMI, but trust me, that's the least of it.) Anyway, I'm slowly getting better, which is good becuase my social calendar for the next while is looking full: Hazy dayz on Saturday, if my illness doesn't lay me even lower than it already has, a rave (my first!) on April 2, and Music as Weapon II on the 12th. Yay!
Don't forget to do your taxes.
[edit: the comic link works now... sorry, it looked OK in my editor... *weeps*] |

Hmm hm hm hm, so I found this email from my Aunt Debbie in my email today:
Sometimes it DOES take a Rocket Scientist!! (true story)
Scientists at NASA built a gun specifically to launch standard 4 pound dead chickens at the windshields of airliners, military jets and the space shuttle, all traveling at maximum velocity. The idea is to simulate the frequent incidents of collisions with airborne fowl to test the strength of the windshields.
British engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the windshields of their new high speed trains. Arrangements were made, and a gun was sent to the British engineers.
When the gun was fired, the engineers stood shocked as the chicken hurled out of the barrel, crashed into the shatterproof shield, smashed it to smithereens, blasted through the control console, snapped the engineer's back-rest in two and embedded itself in the back wall of the cabin, like an arrow shot from a bow.
The horrified Brits sent NASA the disastrous results of the experiment, along with the designs of the windshield and begged the US scientists for suggestions.
You're going to love this......
NASA responded with a one-line memo: "Defrost the chicken."
That's hilarious. Just the idea... I mean, a gun designed to fire bird corpses at expensive prototype machinery.
Anyway, I went to see Daredevil with clockworkalien today. It's a good movie, but I couldn't help but get excited about X-Men 2 and the second Matrix film. (wow! they're coming! in May! both of them! 13 days apart! X-men 2 and the Matrix-!... and so forth).
New webcomic of the moment: Skinny Panda. It's really good, go read it. |

I got my tax refund the other day, yay! Of course it's already gone, but the good news is that I'll have another (smaller) one coming in about 6 weeks - last year's, that I didn't file correctly.
I remind you all to drink your orange juice, because I got good and sick over the weekend and none of you want it. (You should have heard me coughing on Saturday, it sounded like I had tuberculosis.) I'm better now, thank God. 12 hours of sleep and suddenly I feel like a new man. |
